Where are we, and why are we here?

Sometimes it's the simple things that we take for granted. For example, I may think that since we have been at the same location since 1974 that everybody knows where Riverside Ford is. But that may not be the case!  People that are new to the Macon area, friends that are our of town, or people in town that drive by it everyday see it but don't SEE it, may need to know where we are. Thus, the map below:

So that answers the "where are we" question. How about the "why are we here" part. Well, it's pretty simple. We are here to provide solutions for peoples transportation needs for themselves and their businesses. From sales to service, parts to collision repair, we can assist in it all. If you haven't stopped by 2089 Riverside Dr in a while, please do and check out our new showroom and QuickLane service center. When you're thinking cars, Think Riverside!

Return of the Numbers War

That’s right, the number wars of who can make the most power are back again in the good old U.S of A. But I’m not talking horsepower like most people think. I’m talking torque; that user friendly twisting power that most people love but don’t know exists. General Motors and Ford have been hard at it as of late cranking out huge power numbers on their respective new diesel engines.

First up was the new 2011 Ford 6.7L PowerStroke diesel engine, making an incredible 390 HP and 735 lb-ft of torque. Not to be out-done by this, G.M. released the power ratings for its updated 6.6L Duramax diesel at 397 HP and 765 lb-ft of torque. The gauntlet had been thrown down. This week, Ford announced an update for the 6.7L engine, and now it makes a mind blowing 400 HP and 800 lb-ft of torque!

So why all the hype and what do these numbers really mean? Here’s the simple answer. Torque gets you moving and horsepower keeps you moving. When you punch the gas from a dead stop, that’s torque pushing you back in your seat. And when you’re cruising down the interstate and pull out to pass someone, that’s horsepower giving you that extra speed.

Ready for a real life demonstration and horsepower and torque? Stop by Riverside Ford in Macon Ga and try a new F-250 out!

The car business in 2010; my my we've come a long way!

August is just a few days away, the month that generally signals the change over in model year in the automotive industry. As the 2011 models begin to arrive all over the country, the car buying public will once again be impressed. Gone are the days of lack luster performance and “good enough” quality. Today’s automobiles, particularly Ford Motor Company’s, are not only meeting customer expectations but exceeding them!

Take for instance a customer we had last week who was interested in a Hybrid. It was easy for her to find information about our selection by going to our website, www.riversideford.net. Once she had found the car she was interested in (a 2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid), she was able to make an appointment to test drive it all from the comfort of her home. After seeing the car in person, she decided it was the one for her. She was blown away by the great deal she was offered. The best part though was the call I got from her the next day. While out driving her Milan Hybrid, she averaged 42 MPG over a 55 mile stretch. That is incredible!

Looking a little deeper at this accomplishment, consider that outstanding mileage was achieved by adding content rather than stripping it away. 6 airbags, heated seats, rear view camera, satellite radio, and an in dash 6-disc CD changer are just a few of the amenities included in her Milan. Economy, performance, safety, and comfort can live together. What a great time to be driving!
